Here are some of the most common queries that we receive about Fuel. These should cover most of the questions that you may have, but if anything remains unclear, we would love to hear from you - get in touch with us here.
Fuel is a technology talent platform, offering on-demand access to the world’s best technology development teams.
We curate networks of Teams (agencies), putting them through a strict vetting process before inviting them to participate. We only include the ‘Best of the Best’, in web, mobile and blockchain design & development.
The result is a trustworthy network of Teams that Clients can engage on-demand as they need - whether it’s finding a Team to build one feature, or a remote Team to join them permanently.
No. We provide access to a trusted network of development partners. If you’re looking for full-time co-located individuals, traditional recruiters are still your best bet.
Fuel makes it easy for clients to access the benefits of the global talent landscape, but we don’t do bounty-style rewards.
Fuel sifts through the thousands of agencies globally and vets them individually. Only the best are invited to join the network and are then available for you, on-demand.
If you have clearly defined what you need to build, we can match you with a Team that can fulfill fixed-scope projects. If you need some assistance defining scope, our Professional Services team will be happy to help.
UpWork and other similar platforms are primarily geared towards creating open talent marketplaces, where anyone can join and it’s fundamentally “buyer beware”. They also primarily offer access to individual freelancers.
In contrast, Fuel’s network is invite-only, for existing Teams. To participate in our network, Development Teams have been invited or nominated, and then thoroughly screened.
From many years of working with software development teams, we have a finely-tuned due diligence process for filtering through potential Teams, and identifying those at the top of their game. You can find out more on our Network page, or feel free to ask us a question.
This stringent vetting process ensures that only the best Teams get accepted into the Fuel network - and then they are consistently rated based on work output with Fuel clients. Poor performers are removed from the network.
The result is a curated network of Teams you can trust - available on-demand.
Fuel takes a commission of 20% from the Team’s fees. Unlike other marketplace platforms, we don’t charge extras like deposit/withdrawal fees and so on.
We have Teams across the globe in multiple time zones; this gives our Clients maximum flexibility to choose the partner that suits their specific need.
Some of our geographies include:
Americas - Canada, United States, Mexico, Columbia
Europe - Ukraine, Russia, Belarus
Africa -South Africa
… and we’re constantly recruiting and screening based on Client demand.
Both Client and Team agree on the contract terms before the project commences - either fixed-scope with clearly-defined milestones, or Time & Materials engagements with agreed Team size and budget.
At the agreed milestone, Client and Team must agree that the milestone was successfully achieved. In the case of a dispute, Fuel engages a platform arbitrator, whose ruling is binding.
Project budget is agreed up front. Clients are required to load an initial deposit to begin the project. Subsequent payment milestones are then loaded (typically, via wire transfer to the Fuel platform) and payment is only released upon successful achievement of the agreed milestone.
We have the world’s best vendors in web, mobile, SaaS-style and blockchain design and development.
If there are specific practice areas you’d like us to cover (eg. IoT), we can custom recruit a Development Team for you.
The Client always owns the end product. Standard contractual terms bind the two parties, and best practices are used to ensure Teams only have access to company info required for successful completion of the project.
Yes, as part of the network registration process. If you’d like your chosen Team to sign your specific NDA, we will facilitate that.
We have a Best Practices document available to help set you up for success.
For remote to work optimally, you should consider a small suite of collaboration tools, many of which Clients typically already use: Google Docs, Trello, Slack, Zoom etc. We will assist with getting your company set up to succeed from the get-go.
