Here are some of the most common queries that we receive about Fuel. These should cover most of the questions that you may have, but if anything remains unclear, we would love to hear from you - get in touch with us here.
Fuel is a simple mechanism to help you find the outsourced development team you need, paired with the tools to manage them successfully.
We curate a global network of outsourcing Teams, putting them through a strict vetting process before inviting them to join. We only include the ‘Best of the Best’, in web and mobile application design & development.
We then pair the team of your choosing with proven management strategies and tools to ensure your team executes successfully.
In short: we simplify and de-risk the process of sourcing, engaging and managing outsourced software development partners, empowering you to increase delivery velocity with trusted partners and in so doing, create competitive advantage for your company.
No. We provide access to a trusted network of development partners. If you’re looking for full-time co-located individuals, traditional recruiters are still your best bet.
Fuel teams can work on either Fixed Scope or Time & Materials engagements.
As with any outsourced relationship, Fixed Scope engagements require clearly defined requirements, with deviations managed by Change Order.
For Time & Materials engagements, effort estimates and blended hourly rates are provided and mutually-agreed before work commences.
Yes, absolutely. Your partner Team can operate like an extension of your internal team, including participating in standups, scrum meetings and so on. We can advise on partner Team selection accordingly.
UpWork and other similar platforms are primarily geared towards creating open talent marketplaces, where anyone can join and it’s fundamentally “buyer beware” - with execution risk largely borne by you, the client. They are also primarily intended to match individual freelancers with clients.
At Fuel we focus on matching you with the ideal hand-selected team based on your unique requirements AND providing you with tools and management oversight to ensure the engagement is successful. The result is a partnership that can scale as you require, and a working dynamic that addresses cultural alignment and collaboration between the organizations.
If you want large-scale “offshoring advisory”, a partner like Infosys, Cognizant or Accenture are your best bets.
Fuel clients are typically seeking working groups of less than 100 designers, developers and testers. These are still large engineering groups, but not entire enterprise divisions.
Fuel adds a percentage markup to the hourly rate that your partner Team charges. For large or extended engagements, a flat retainer is optional.
We have Teams across the globe in multiple time zones; this gives our Clients maximum flexibility to choose the partner that suits their specific need.
Some of our geographies include:
Americas - Canada, United States, Mexico, Columbia, Uruguay, Argentina
Europe - Ukraine, Russia, Belarus, Poland
Africa - South Africa
… and we’re constantly recruiting and screening based on Client demand.
We have the world’s best Teams in web and mobile application design, development and testing for all major tech stacks.
If there are specific practice areas you’d like us to cover (eg. IoT or legacy tech), we can custom recruit a development Team for you.
The Client always owns the end product. Standard contractual terms bind the two parties, and best practices are used to ensure Teams only have access to company info required for successful completion of the project.
Yes, as part of the Fuel due diligence process. If you’d like your chosen Team to sign your specific NDA, we will facilitate that.
We will work with you to ensure you have both the tools and organizational mindset to engage your partner Team effectively. For remote to work optimally, you should consider a small suite of collaboration tools, many of which Clients typically already use: Google Docs, Trello, Slack, Zoom, Jira etc.
